Wear the Crown

This is my daughter, wearing the first thing I ever printed. The design is hers (as most little girls are, she is obsessed with all things pink, princess and unicorn related!) and it is my most popular design to date.

Although when I first gave it to her she was less than impressed – it didn’t have red on it! So I dutifully added the red splats and from then on it has been a firm favourite. And while at the time I was heartbroken that she had rejected my first effort, actually I am proud of her for asking for what she wanted. Because how often do we accept things the way they are rather than asking for what would truly make us happy?

That is the crux of Squiggles & Ink; I want you to feel empowered to use your voice, be seen and heard and wear the damn crown. And as Dr Seuss says “There is no one alive that is you-er than you.”

I am inspired every day by my children’s ability to know what they want and to keep going until they get it – even if sometimes that involves stomping and shouting! Their perseverance and resilience is astounding, especially given the year that was 2020. I think we can all learn a lot from our youngest humans right now.
